Edera (Italian for ivy), was inspired by the iconic ivy-covered walls surrounding the restaurant’s outdoor dining space. Much like the food, the Edera brand strikes a balance between upscale and approachable, combining traditional Italian typography with modern stencil lettering. The playful “E” takes many shapes, from the noodle wrapped around a fork to the namesake ivy and the twist atop a refreshing cocktail.

The team needed a consistent, adaptable visual language that would stand out among St. Louis’ sea of red media logos, but without overshadowing important journalistic content. The chalkboard artwork that once adorned the restaurant walls has been reimagined as a vegetal cast of lighthearted and idiosyncratic characters. Since many patients experience vision-related symptoms, accessibility was a top priority and the site was designed to be WCAG-AA compliant.

From a usability standpoint, the site was completely restructured to accommodate a variety of audiences, from patients to caregivers and healthcare professionals.
